There are some general rules for caring for your flowers such as

• Ensuring adequate water levels daily, keeping them away from heat/direct sun and changing the water every couple of days.
  
  
• If you have received a bouquet, before placing them in water, it is advised to cut the ends on an angle just a little so the stems may absorb water more substantially.
  
  
• It is not recommended placing flowers near fruit bowls. Why you may ask?
  
  Certain fruits and vegetables release ethylene gas during the ripening process.
  Ethylene gas is an aging hormone producing an invisible and odorless gas. The gas causes flowers and plants to mature faster, therefore affecting the longevity of the flowers. It can cause flower buds not to open, yellowing of leaves and foliage leaves to drop.
  
  
• A Touch of Purple pre-treats flowers with flower food and purchases stock from wholesalers and growers who also pre treat their flowers to reduce and lessen the likelihood of this problem.
  
  
• Finally removing faded, wilted and dying flowers quickly from your arrangement will also help the longevity of your flowers.
